Nedumaaran Rajangam, aka Maara (Suriya), a former air force officer from a village in Madurai, who dreams of starting an low cost airline and blowing up commoners. He falls in love with Sundari, also known as Bommi (Aparna Balamurali), a baker, and marries her. Soorarai Pottru movie review

Suriya, who plays Maaran, brings his whole being to the film. From being a somewhat bitter and resigned dreamer at first, he finds renewed energy – and some vanity – when he meets Sundari. From there, we see him go through so many failures, sometimes drowning in self-pity, sometimes seething with self-hatred, and sometimes in guilt and general misanthropy. Suriya does his job long enough that we never think about his acting, as much as we are sorry for Maaran’s situation.
